Influencer Mobile Solution
Discovery and concept work for XRPay, an AI-native platform to own influencer payments, compliance, and likeness rights across a $43.9B U.S. creator economy.
OVERVIEW
Influencer payments and associated rights have become infrastructure-level pain. The systems responsible for an estimated $30B in U.S. payments in 2026 have not evolved with the scale and complexity of the market, causing widespread breakdowns, workarounds, and risk for agencies, brands, and creators. Extreme Reach processed roughly $60M, less than 1%, of influencer payments in 2025, signaling a major growth opportunity if the right product can be built.
CHALLENGE
Cash flow is breaking down: 87% of influencers are paid late, and 97% of agencies effectively finance influencer payments themselves. Disconnected systems consume up to 40% of agency billable capacity on non-billable admin work. Teams bypass ERP friction with consumer P2P apps like Venmo and PayPal, creating shadow IT, PII exposure (CA, NY, MA, TX), and IRS 1099-K/1099-NEC double-income risk. Rights management still lives in spreadsheets that ad servers cannot enforce, leaving agencies running media against expired licenses. A single FTC violation now carries a $53,088 civil penalty, and 55% of influencers refuse to work with a brand again after one payment failure.
SOLUTION
Led discovery to validate the problem, motivation, and competitive gaps, then framed a vision for a Unified Talent Infrastructure: an AI-native ecosystem merging Payments, Compliance, and Rights into a single automated lifecycle for the modern hybrid workforce. The concept centers on a Secure Influencer Vault for PII, an AI-assisted routing engine for Human vs. Hybrid vs. AI talent, transparent talent cost surfacing (including backup withholding and Union P&H), and trackable rights and royalties for both human and synthetic likeness, closing the four structural gaps (Cognitive Load, Financial Transparency, Security vs. Conversion, and Lifecycle) that current point solutions leave open.
MY ROLE
As Principal Designer, I directed the discovery phase end-to-end: market sizing, agency and creator interviews, competitive landscape analysis across Tipalti, Grin, CreatorIQ, Impact, Stripe, and PayPal, synthesis of the four structural gaps, and the executive-ready concept narrative used to move the program into the Concept Phase.
GOALS
Capture meaningful share of the projected $30B U.S. influencer payments market in 2026.
Secure PII handling that meets the 88% of influencers who demand it, eliminating talent ghosting during onboarding.
Replace Venmo/PayPal workarounds with compliant, instant-pay rails that Finance can see and govern.
Move rights tracking out of spreadsheets and into an enforceable, lifecycle-aware system for human, hybrid, and AI talent.
Reclaim the ~40% of billable capacity lost to manual AP, rights tracking, and invoice follow-ups.
Collapse the average 7.6 platforms per campaign into a single talent ledger across discovery, contracts, payments, and rights.
